Help with Hay Fever
Therapeutic Massage in Shropshire
We are well and truly into hay fever season and if you’ve been experiencing runny eyes and a congested nose, you’ve probably been reaching for the antihistamines.
While I wouldn’t suggest therapeutic massage in Shropshire as a replacement for this, it can be a great additional support for your body. There are 3 ways in which massage in Shropshire can help to relieve the symptoms of hay fever:
Enliven aching muscles.
1. Congestion relief
Facial massage helps to drain the sinuses and release blockages in the nose. Firmly stroking down the sides of the nose can do wonders for sinus pain. Tapping, cupping and long strokes on the chest and back can also release the build-up of phlegm, though be prepared, because this may produce coughing after the session.
Therapeutic massage in Shropshire is an excellent way to relax. The very essence of this type of massage is relaxation and it’s the main goal I have in sessions. I work to ease the nervous system and encourage it into the ‘rest and repair’ state, so tensions are released, and you can fully let go. Massage also helps the immune system to function more efficiently and encourages lymph flow, helping your body to deal with the effects of the hay fever.
Being in pain or discomfort with hay fever not only causes the face and chest to tense up, but the whole body can become tight in response. A massage is a great antidote to this, though you may not be comfortable to lie with your face down for a long period or at all. In this case, I can work with you lying on your back or sides only.
3. Enliven aching muscles
Chest, back and facial muscles become sore from prolonged coughing and sneezing. Massage in Shropshire provides more oxygen and blood flow to tired muscles and eases out those sore spots.
